Born and raised in the suburban midwest, Alyssa Grenning moved to Philadelphia in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Northern Illinois University. After eight years in the city working as a designer, she migrated north to the charming town of Kittery, Maine. Her last body of personal work focused on surreal forms of the coyote:
Inspired by "The Animal Dialogues," by Craig Childs, the coyote has become a powerful storyteller for me in my work. Their insurmountable adaptability against the odds and their relation between dog and wolf is both overwhelmingly familiar and inconceivably wild. I continue to look to the coyote spirit when I find myself in unfamiliar places and situations — observing, absorbing and curling nose to tail in an adaptable home.
"I am beyond elated at the opportunity to house my very first studio space at Chase's and foresee an abundance of work to come." - Alyssa Grenning
