What is your best advice when it comes to starting a woodblock?
Start with the right plywood and tools. This allows students to translate spontaneous drawing/painting into precisely carved lines.
Who/What/Where do you find inspiration from?
My pet birds, avian encyclopedias, riffs on classic print compositions, classical Chinese brush paintings, Orozco, Baskin etc.
What is your all time favorite part of printmaking?
Rolling ink onto a freshly carved block and seeing your carving printed for the first time on paper.
