Join Lynn Duryea for a day-long demo workshop, exploring the varieties of form and scale possible with slab construction. The morning discussion will include idea generation, the use of pattern-making as well as support systems for the building and drying of a range of forms. There will be a demonstration of The SlabSling TM, a device of Lynn’s invention which aids in drying of large-scale pieces. The afternoon will focus on the surface potential possible in low temperature electric kiln firing, with an emphasis on creating layered and weathered surfaces by means of slips, glazes and unfired finishes.

Professor Emerita of Art @ Appalachian State University in North Carolina, Lynn Duryea has returned to Maine full-time to work at Sawyer Street Studios in South Portland and her Deer Isle studio.
