Use basic etching techniques to create crisp lines, painterly washes, and rich tonal imagery. Students will explore and experiment while learning soft and hard grounds and drypoint. In three weeks, gain the skills to manipulate, etch and proof-print a copper plate. All skill levels welcome! Over the course of three weeks students will touch on the basics of non-toxic etching methods to manipulate and proof-print a copper plate.

Trained in printmaking and painting at the University of Maine, Orono, Elise Robichaud has been working with copper etching and monotype techniques to create layered, dynamic, texture-based imagery fused with classic icons to open a dialog on mental health, interpersonal relationships and societal expectations.

Students are encouraged to bring paper towels/rags pens/markers, sketchbook and any preferred sketching/note taking materials
