Ready to try your hand at woodcut? This crash course gets you aquatinted with the medium in a single day. No experience necessary, only grit and determination is required! We provide the basic knowledge to transform a 6” x 6” drawing or photograph of your choosing into a complex hand carved stamp. First, there will be a brief introduction to the history of printmaking. Then, you will learn how to carve, ink, and print your own black and white mini masterpiece on several different types of fine paper.

Disclaimer: As a result of this class you may feel the uncontrollable desire to carve every wood surface that meets your gaze. Channel that energy into a piece of plywood and not the surface of your kitchen table. Only then will you find yourself on the path to woodcut awesomeness. All skills levels are welcome.

*This class requires you to purchase a few materials beforehand:

• Power Grip Five Piece Carving Set & Honing Block: If you already have carving tools please email lyellcastonguay@gmail.com and the instructor will tell you if they are suitable. We have sets available at Chases for purchase for $35.00 if you cannot get a set before the class starts, please email us to let us know and we will put one aside for you. *Also available in-store at Chases Garage and at Woodcraft in Newington, NH for last-minute sign-ups!

• Medium Weight Brush Pen (an optional investment but good for achieving flowing lines) 

• Soft B Pencil

• Medium Density Charcoal Pencil
