Fruit & Veggie Printing on Fabric

Come play with direct object printmaking and leave with a one of a kind bandana or tea towel of your own. We will use fruits and veggies to explore the wide range of shapes, marks and printmaking possibilities available in your own refrigerator.  Students will leave with an array of hand-printed pieces that they have created from start to finish, and knowledge to continue printing on fabric at home.


 No experience necessary, all skill levels welcome!

Materials provided by Chases Garage:

-3 bananas per + 1 tea towel per student

-Ink + tools

-A variety of fruits + veggies

Participants are required to bring:

-If you would like to print on tote bags, t-shirts or favorite fabric scraps, you are welcome to bring them to print on.

-Please wear suitable clothing or an apron that you do not mind getting dirty or stained.

-Feel free to bring your own fruits + veggies (unripe pieces are more durable and work best)

Registered students will receive a “welcome” email two days prior to the workshop. This email will have important information (including directions for parking. To ensure you will receive this email, please add info@chasesgarage.com to your email contact list.

Description

Kristy Cavaretta

Kristy Cavaretta is a Maine Seacoast graphic designer, artist, and mother of three. She enjoys exploring the minutiae of domestic life through a variety of media.

Cavaretta earned her undergraduate degree in Visual and Media Arts from Boston’s Emerson College in 2001. In 2008, after living in Los Angeles for a number of years, she returned home to the East Coast and continued her education with the Graphic Design Certificate Program at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. After moving to the seacoast with her husband in 2012, Cavaretta began to learn printmaking at Chases Garage in York, Maine, with instruction from Ned Roche, Sarah Wonson, and Lyell Castonguay in various workshop settings. She worked as a graphic designer at Dietz Associates in Kennebunk, Maine from 2013 until she had her first child in 2016 and continues to work as a freelance designer for various seacoast establishments and nonprofits, including the Ogunquit Museum of American Art and Old York Historical Society.

CONDITIONS

Adults (18 or older) may register for classes & workshops at Chases Garage. Chases reserves the right to cancel courses, substitute instructors, change course times, and limit enrollment. The student agrees to abide by any and all rules and policies of the studios. Chases will assume no responsibility for any loss, personal or physical. With enrollment, a student consents to being photographed in classes (unless we informed in writing). These photographs may be used by Chases in future promotional efforts without specific written permission from the student.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

To register, student information (including name, email, and phone number) and full payment must be made via our Square Check out link. Payment reserves your space in a workshop. When checking out, please use your current email address so we can send you important information about the workshop. 

COVID 19

You are not required to wear a mask indoors. Feel free to wear a mask if you feel more comfortable.

WITHDRAWAL & REFUND POLICY

50% refund if you withdraw 5 business days before the workshop date.

We are unable to refund you if you withdraw from the workshop less than 5 business days before the workshop date.

If Chases cancels a course, registered students will be notified and all fees will be refunded in full. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements will be canceled, typically two to four business days before the class begins
